A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Friends and Families of St. Raymond School,

Welcome to the school website. I hope it can answer any questions you may have about the school.

We are happy to have your children with us this year and we assure you that we will strive to help your children experience spiritual, academic, social and emotional growth.

I am fortunate to have had sixteen years of Catholic education, and as a result of this experience, my vocation as a Catholic school teacher was confirmed; thus have taught for 14 years in Catholic institutions.  I worked at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School for 12 years. After 12 wonderful years, I went on to teach Honors English, Religion, and Study Skills at Alverno Heights Academy in Sierra Madre for 2 additional years.

I have a passion for literature that I hope to pass on to my students. Through our classroom

discussions and in the themes of books we read, my students not only excel as academic learners,

but also become more compassionate and understanding young adults.

During my time at Assumption, I was the 8th Grade Homeroom teacher. I taught 7th and 8th Religion and Language Arts.  I took on many roles such as Junior High Coordinator and High School and Graduation Coordinator. It was there, at ABVM, where my calling to serve transformed. I realized that I loved teaching as much as I yearned to serve more people; hence, I went back to school to earn my Masters in Leadership. Both Assumption BVM & Alverno gifted me the opportunity to teach while exploring my desire to serve and lead.

On Holy Thursday 2017, I interviewed at St. Raymond. Seeing the students walk back to their classrooms as they exited their prayer service was all I needed to observe - it was in that moment that I fell in love with the spirit and students of St. Raymond. I prayed and asked God to allow St. Raymond to be my home if it was in His plan to have me serve and lead this community.

I am honored to serve St. Raymond School as their school Principal. I appreciate the trust Fr. Sam Ward, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and the faculty and staff have in my leadership. Whether through teaching or leading, my commitment is still to support my students so that they not only excel academically but most importantly develop into compassionate, faith-filled young adults.

We are fortunate to have such active and involved parents at St. Raymond School. We welcome inquiries and visits. Please see the Admissions section for school tours and our yearly Open House during Catholic Schools Week.

Thank you for the many ways you assist us in making our school mission a reality.

Blessings to you and your family,

Claudia Rodarte

Principal
